About the plugin
WooCommerce Better Product Preview is a plugin created in order to make things easier in WooCommere. Normally, if you have a product which has some variations differing with just a tiny details you have to create separate image for each variation.
Here is a simple example: let’s say that you want to sell a product with 4 elements that change and there are 4 possible changes for each. You have to create 4x4x4x4 images – that’s 256 images to make! This is exactly why our plugin was created. Basically it changes multiplications of possibilities to adding them. In this example it would give total 12 = 4+4+4+4 images to create. 16 images take much less work than creating 256, don’t they? 🙂
Examples
Check out this really cool car, or this beautiful house.
How does it work?
It takes parts of product images that changes and combines them as the user choose elements:
Instructions
After the plugin’s installation go to desired product, my product is the house from this example. Now you can see a new section, just below your post’s content editor:
Add product’s main image that will be used as a background for all changes and click OK.
After adding the main image you can see it above:
You can always remove this image by clicking delete button below it.
Now let’s get down to setting changing elements. First, add all of them to the list on the left:
Below the list you can see menu that allows you to add an image, set it’s color and position. After all changes press OK – it will create a new menu where you can add another image. That’s how my door element looks like:
Do the same thing for other simple elements and move to elements that have children – they can be for instance element’s material or size. Click on an element that should have children – I want to give a possibility of changing the number of windows to the client.
Add children’s name and click add. Select children and add it’s images just like for a normal element:
When you are done with the elements you can change plugin’s settings for this product:
“Save chosen elements to order” option means that elements chosen by client will be included in order. If you use this plugin just as a preview you can leave it unchecked.
“Force user to choose all elements before adding product to cart” option means that a client can’t add a product to the cart unless all elements are chosen – you can just assume that elements which weren’t picked are those default.
All changes are saved automatically when you make them – you don’t have to save your changes.
And… That’s all! 😀
This is my result: house product.
Please note that this plugin doesn’t use normal WooCommerce variations – other plugins may be incompatible.
Alternatives
If you want just to change product colors (you don’t want to change product’s texture/look) you can use our other plugin:
